Community health - Marlene Porter

Marlene is Gavin's wife. She is a qualified nursing sister, and she serves the same poor, black community with basic health care. Community health is a much wider concept than mere clinic work; the emphasis in community health is on prevention of disease. The World Health Organization defines health as physical, mental and social well being. In order to impact the neighbourhood, community health is aimed at personal health which includes, the care of individuals and families from different walks of life, e.g. expectant mothers, infants, toddlers, school children, teenagers, adolescents, adults and the elderly.
