Malawi
15 April 2007
A group of key partners from all over South Africa have once again seen the awesomeness of God while visiting the Malawian people in April 2007.

The visit was organized to introduce key partners to the Kairos ministry on Lake Malawi, to formulate a support structure (HUB) around the ministry, and to ensure their long-term involvement.

Day 1: The 1st day was spent in Mangochi discussing the vision and strategies for the Kairos ministry and how it fits into the work being done by the local Pastor and the Live School graduates.

Day 2: The group joined the Kairos on Lake Malawi to visit the 8 churches planted in less than 2 years by graduate missionaries from Nyasa Mission School.
Here they were introduced to the challenges the missionaries and locals face every day. Inaccessible roads and a lack of infrastructure make traveling complicated and expensive.
This is the bridge on the way to Binaly, an example of the lack of infrastructure. It's only usable by people, not transport vehicles.

Meeting the people in Binaly, the team could see how the Lord took what little was offered and multiplied it 100 fold for His glory. One Pastor said, "What a privilege to be part of what God is busy doing among the Malawian people. Just look at that church!" In the past these villagers were reserved and did not welcome anyone. Now they have accepted God, and the church has grown to 35 adults and their kids!
It is harvest time in Malawi, but they could not take their Maize crop to Mangochi town because of a lack in infrastructure. Still there is excitement in the air as miracles happen every day. One example: The missionary told them that he could speak perfect English; there are no teachers or English speakers in the village.
Children in the village Binaly
Jesus said, "Let the little children come to me, and don't prevent them. For of such is the Kingdom of Heaven." Matt 19:14
The next village the team visited was Mmambo were they now have even more Church members. The team went to meet with the Village Chief, but he was not available. Here is the story told by Erich Koch, skipper and missionary on board the Kairos.
"In Mmambo village we were falsely accused of being all kinds of bad things and stories were spread about us. When we requested permission of the Village Chief and his council to show the Jesus Film, we were denied. A few weeks later the Chief came to apologize to us and requested that we show the Jesus film.
We set it up 400 meters from the main Mosque in the village, and the turn out was terrible! Most amazingly one of the councilmen took the microphone and encouraged everyone in hearing distance to come and watch the movie and hear the good news we had to share with them. Then almost 200 people came!
Because the film is almost 4 hours long it is usually split into 2 nights, but as we started to pack up, the people chanted and demanded more. So we decided to show the rest of the movie. What a long and prosperous night! "
Meet Gentle and his family; they live in Mmambo and saw the Jesus Film that night. He accepted Jesus Christ as his savior while the team visited his village. There are many more needing discipleship.
Here you can see the team members praying over Gentle aboard Kairos.
Once again we are in awe to see how God works and to see the blessing and gifts these people receive every day. We know that Jesus is the head of the church, and nothing will prevent it from being built. Together the key partners now have a common goal- to see the Kingdom grow in Malawi and Mozambique. They are excited, highly blessed and privileged to be part of the change in Malawi.
"This trip was the biggest gift any one could have given me." Pastor Johan
