New Territory for the Live School!

Several weeks ago, WMC experienced one of the most exciting events in its history: We were participants in the launching of the Live School (in Arabic) in the Middle East. All of WMC’s world-region team leaders (representing North America, Eastern Europe, Asia, and Southern Africa) and both the International Prayer Coordinator and Media Team Leader joined me in the Mideast to present the Live School to roughly 300 church leaders from the region (and a few others).

After presenting the School, its background and the results on the ground in Southern Africa, Eastern Europe and Central Asia, we symbolically handed over two of the ten Arabic sets we had with us to two of the church leaders. One of those doing the handing over was my son William, our Media Team Leader, who, with his team, had worked so diligently to see the project through to its completion. I could see his joy in passing on the completed work on which he had worked so long and hard.

As we wrapped up the presentation that day, we were literally deluged with requests for the School and yet, we had only 10 sets to give. Our team interviewed each one interested and then prayerfully considered to whom those precious ten sets would go. The outcome? The next few months will see Live Schools opening a number of countries in the region. During the launch we made a declaration about the Arabic Live School. (You can read the wording of this declaration at the end of this letter)

Walking Towards the Dawn

We spent the last day of our stay in the region in Egypt, sightseeing and doing video recordings around the pyramids. Our guide had told us earlier that day that the burial sites are on the western side of the Nile because of the belief that where the sun sets is the place of the dead. All fascinating, but I decided to take a much-needed breather with a cup of excellent coffee in a café overlooking the area while the others moved on to get a closer look at the Sphinx.

There I sat, the Nile a little less than 5 miles behind me and a road used by tourists to get to a lookout point further on running west in front of me between two of the Great Pyramids. Suddenly the road filled up with cars, busses, carts and people – just a busy moment, I guess. But as I sat watching all those people head my way, in my mind’s eye, the crowds became thousands – an endless stream of humanity all walking eastward.

In Isaiah 19, there’s a prophecy concerning Egypt and Assyria. It speaks of an unprecedented turning to the Lord by their peoples and how as nations they will be called His people and the work of His hands, a blessing on earth beside Israel. Verse 23 is extraordinary: “In that day there will be a highway from Egypt to Assyria. The Assyrians will go to Egypt and the Egyptians to Assyria.

The Egyptians and Assyrians will worship together.” The area of Ancient Egypt and the Assyrian Empire covers most of today’s Middle East (including parts of Turkey, Iran and the northern territories of the Arabian Peninsula), in its entirety.

I realized what the Lord was showing me: these thousands were from the Arab world and they were walking away from ‘the place of the dead’ to LIFE. They were coming out of an ancient kingdom into HIS Kingdom. They were ALL walking out of darkness into the LIGHT of the dawn. I believe Isaiah’s prophecy and the promises God made through it are for the whole Arabic-speaking world today.

When we were planning for the launch of the Arabic version of the Live School, we had seriously considered calling it ‘Toward the Dawn’. What I saw that day only confirmed that, yes, the Live School is indeed a tool that God will use to bring many to His dawn, making them His handiwork and His people, a blessing on the earth.

The vision is to see 100,000 people trained in the Arabic-speaking world to reach the millions who still haven’t heard. The seed has been sown, but before the first fruits are seen (about six months from now when the first graduates head out on the Practical Phase of their training), we have MUCH to follow up on and are in desperate need of the Lord’s wisdom on how and with whom to do all that is necessary.

Praise the Lord with us…
  1. For the finances and people to support the translation and production of the Live School in Arabic
  2. For the smooth running of the presentation, and the safety of all those involved in a region not usually friendly to evangelical Christianity
Please pray with us…
  1. For the Lord’s wisdom to roll out the schools in the most effective way
  2. For the right people to be found to help with the process
  3. For the finances to be able to do the above
  4. For William and the Media Team to be able to truly rest after their weeks and months of exhausting labor
Thank you to all of you who have made this translation and launch possible – your labor and support will surely bring much fruit! We also thank those of you who are helping to fund these 10 new schools – you are a part of something which will have repercussions throughout the region and world.

May the Lord richly bless you,
Willie and Lydia Crew

Now to Him who is able to do far more abundantly beyond all that we ask or think, according to the power that works within us, to Him be the glory in the church and in Christ Jesus to all generations forever and ever. Amen. Ephesians 3:20-2 Declaration made at the launch of The Live School in Arabic in the Middle East In humble submission to the Lord Jesus Christ, we ambassadors of His Kingdom issue a decree on this 29th day of March, 2008, regarding the Arabic version of The Live School. We address this decree to all Arab speaking nations and communities around the world. In this decree:

We release the Arabic version of The Live School as a strategic tool to train a work force of 100,000 missionaries in the Arab-speaking world that will carry the Gospel of the Kingdom to every corner of the Arab world in the next ten years.

We say, Live School, find your way to every place where mission and leadership training is needed – from royal palaces to humble homes in the backstreets of Arab-speaking societies.

We declare that The Live School will be accepted by those that are introduced to it. It will not seek people or significance but rather people will seek it!

Through those trained by it, thousands will come to faith in Jesus Christ in the Arab nations and through it the Glory of the Lord of the Harvest will be manifested.
