Makes Disciples Who Disciple Others

The Live School places a high value on discipleship to ensure that the student becomes a disciple of Jesus Christ rather than just a follower of His teachings. It does not assume that each student understands the biblical principles of discipleship or even knows the Lord. With this in mind, the curriculum includes clear BIBLICAL TEACHING on the following:
  • Sin – what it is and what it results in
  • Salvation – not earned, but a free gift; why Jesus died, was buried and rose again; why we need to be saved from sin and eternal damnation
  • Forgiveness – from God and for others; dealing radically with sin and temptation in our lives
  • The Bible – the inerrant Word of God; obedience to and application of its Truth on a daily basis in our lives
THE ONE ANOTHER PRINCIPLE – Fellowship, respect and servanthood are priorities. Due to the personal nature of the classes, an environment results in which students are comfortable sharing experiences and emotions, and asking questions, all a part of the discipling process under guidance of the School's facilitator. Times of corporate prayer and intercession are an integral part of the training as well.

ONE-ON-ONE COUNSELING – People who are whole minister more effectively so the School staff spends much time in helping students deal with any areas of unforgiveness, bitterness and resentment that may be present in their lives. In smaller schools of up to 10 students, the facilitator disciples all the students. If a School is too large for one person to manage effectively, the students are grouped into smaller 'flocks,' each having its own flock leader/discipler. These flock leaders, often Live School graduates themselves, are chosen by the facilitator in consultation with church leadership and are under the direct supervision of the facilitator.

DISCIPLED BY JESUS ALONE – Students are given time alone to pray and read the Scriptures, learning to hear the Voice of God for themselves in order to follow Jesus well, making wise decisions and applying the Word to their lives.

Mandatory Scripture memorization teaches them the value of knowing and confessing the Word of God. Living by faith, trusting the Lord to meet their spiritual, physical and material needs is a daily and very real exercise.

Live Schools – LIVE!

Pretoria, South Africa – In 2000, Zambian Felix Mumbi arrived in Pretoria with great expectations and excelled in the training. Prior to this, Felix had not had clear direction in what he should be doing for the Lord. As Felix spent time being discipled by his flock leader, he grew and found himself directed to minister to his fellow students. His leadership skills were honed during that time and when it came time for outreach, he was appointed team leader for the team headed into a remote part of Uganda.

The Ugandan outreach proved dangerous, requiring skillful negotiating abilities to engage local authorities and warring factions. Felix excelled once again, touching lives personally and making a lasting impact on the people the team was working among. Since completing his Live School training, Felix has facilitated three Live Schools, one in South Africa, one in Botswana and the Livingston Live School in Zambia. In all, he has discipled HOW MANY?? students and continues with more. The impact on others is exponential.

Pretoria, South Africa – In 2000, Julie Teo's home church in Singapore sent the former insurance agent to the first Live School that she be trained to go to the mission field. As the School started, Julie seemed reserved yet responded eagerly to God's working and to the responsibility given her by the School leadership. Her flock leader spent much time in discipling her and she flourished. During the outreach phase, Julie was part of a team sent to an arid semi-desert area of Botswana to work among the Bushmen. As several of the Bushmen turned to Jesus, Julie's work really began, building relationships and spending much time discipling those the Lord led her to.

One of those she discipled was Osupeng, a former witchdoctor, who, as she grew, began to disciple others. During her 5 years in the desert, Julie invested herself into a handful of others through relational discipleship and was able to leave the ministry in their reliable hands upon her departure. Julie's ministry continues today as 'her' disciples disciple others on yet a far greater scale.
