An African odyssey

During November Henkie, Emile and Eddie visited a country in the NAME region. Our purpose was to:

  1. Visit a LiveSchool
  2. Meet with church leaders in order to start new Live Schools

LiveSchool Panorama

We've spend 4 days visiting a missions organisation that consists of a small church and a hospital. Their vision is to reach villages around their city that are totally Muslim and in most cases no Christians living there. Some of these villages are in the desert where living conditions are desperate.

We've achieved two main things here:

  1. Meeting with the Live School Panorama students

This school is about 100 hours into the curriculum and 15 students strong.

The students are dedicated to the point that one lady travel 1 hour to school every week and another 45 minutes.

Here are some of the comments made by the students about the Live School:

-        I had dreams at night about being a missionary.  Live School is giving me that opportunity.

-        There was a certain place where I believed that I needed to go and minister; Live School helped me take the first steps. Today I minister there once a week.

-        The lecturers live what they teach.

-        Through Live School I've learnt to live by faith.

-        Before starting I was concerned that we would not understand the teachings.  The lecturers communicate very well, and we understand the teachings.

-        Live School taught me to have a good relationship with God.

  1. Meeting with 5 church leaders

We had a 3 hour meeting with 5 leaders from the area. With the school working well there, they were very interested and inspired. All 5 pastors are positive about starting a school. Facilitator training was booked tentatively for Feb/March 2012.

Live School Shepherd

God brought a meeting together as we met with an interdenominational team of believers passionate to reach out in their country.

We provided a facilitators "crash course" in the hotel that evening. They are very excited to train their 24 students and the school will start in the beginning of December this year.

We promised a visit to them on our first visit back to their country in order to see how they are doing and making sure they ran the school correctly and effectively.

New FriendsStudents in Africa

We've met with a very influential man in the country. He will start a full time school in 2013 and also open many doors in this country.

We were invited us to speak at a significant conference in 2012.

Conclusion

The word that sums up this trip is "breakthrough". For the first time since we set foot in this world region, we are seeing the beginnings of momentum.

Great new relationships were formed and plans to start new schools are on the table.

God protected us, gave us favour and the desires of our hearts for His Kingdom's sake.

Thank you Jesus.
